"...AND LIVE, FROM NEW YORK, IT'S..." BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING! - Reporter's Notebook
This could've been a great SNL sketch - you know: back when they were funny...
One of the more genuinely surreal moments of this war (and there’s a lot of competition…): while attempting to watch and maybe even distract myself into enjoying this film depicting the debut episode of Saturday Night Live (…which I'm proud to note I'm old enough to have seen in the original version “…when SNL was still funny, man!”).
I had the volume racked up due to the film being recorded and eq’ed on the low side with lots of side audio turned up to give the viewer the sense of the hectic whirlwind live television production (and no - my hearing is just fine, thanks for shouting, you young punks), when, suddenly, through my speakers comes blasting:
BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!BringBRING!
Well, you get the idea: nonstop red alerts, which, on a desktop, also steal control of the mouse. Every time I tried to lower the volume, the following alert dragged the mouse back to the next alert. And there were a lot of alerts:
Anyway, go watch the trailer and decide if it's any good; let me know in the comments:

Guessing the modern-day SNL would just love writing this into a woke sketch - mocking Israelis running for shelter, snarling afternoon traffic across the densely-congested coastal plain while about 10 Hezbollah rockets were mostly blown out of the sky by Iron Dome defensive interceptors - or maybe I'll write my own version, instead… who's in with me to cobble together a script? Not kidding…
Meanwhile, here’s a review for the curious:
…annnnd just ‘cause ole’ Dave’s in a bizarre mood from the abovementioned experience, here’s a taste of the underground humor I grew up on besides SNL and NatLamp issues—the National Lampoon Radio Hour, with Chevy Chase and John Belushi:
Enjoy…
