Hezbollah Rocket Salvo Hits Tzfat Home

Librarians in Israel are made of tempered steel, and remain unfazed - even in the face of ferocious and cowardly Hezbollah rocket attacks against civilians - like my wife. Her report, and mine:

As Miri was recording her clip, this was taking place in the skies directly overhead:

But while the hard-hit city continues to function, businesses and shops—aand even the largest English-language-only library in Israel—are struggling to remain open after a year of war.

And here’s how it looked from our home at Kfar Hananiya, located about 25 minutes away - the repeated buzzing in the clip is from the many rocket alerts still coming in, in real-time, on my cellphone:

Tzfat Mayor, Yossi Kakun, at the site of the damaged house, urging residents to follow sheltering instructions (noted below): The aging structure—which did not have a protected space or bomb shelter—was “badly damaged but thank God no one was hurt as the owners are presently out of the country. One person in the area was treated for shock. There are no mamad shelters inside the homes in this neighborhood, but it's important to take cover in the ‘most protected space available,’” Municipal liaison, Shayna Rehburg Paquin noted in a statement to the English-speaking community of the northern city’s 37k-residents.

Summary of the incident of a direct hit in Tzfat:

At 11:02 an alarm was sounded in Tzfat, following which one missile fell with a direct hit in the northern part of the city. The house was empty at the time of the fall. In the house next door, one person was evacuated and treated for shock.

We repeat and emphasize: the firing is carried out on civilian spaces. In the event of a siren, the time to reach the most protected area available is 30 seconds. The protected space is chosen according to the time available to us from the moment a siren sounds according to the following order of priorities:

1. Mamad or miklat

2. If there is neither of the above, an internal stairwell and not on the top floor.

3. If there are none of the above, you must select the must select an internal room with minimal external walls, windows, and openings.

Staying outside: lying on the ground and protecting your head with your hands.

By car: get out of the car and walk a few meters away. Lie on the ground and protect your head with your hands.

Please note: the instructions of the Home Front Command to stay near protected areas and the rule of restrictions are still in effect.
