IDF foils drone attack on iconic ancient Israeli site as US polls open for prez race
When we said "שנית לא תיפול מצדה" we weren't kidding - no matter who sits at 1600 Penn. - or in Tehran.
The first exploding UAV drone attack attempted against the iconic Masada fortress—an iconic site of Jewish resistance since the Roman siege in 73AD—was shot out of the sky by the Israeli Air Force Tuesday morning.
“Following the warning of a hostile aircraft infiltration that was activated at 07:24 in Masada, the Air Force intercepted an unmanned aircraft that crossed into the country from the east,” the IDF Spokesman said in a brief notice.
While it's as yet unclear if the incoming aerial munition was launched from Iranian territory or one of their Syrian, Iraqi, or Houthi proxies, just an FYI to our murderous foes so sworn to our destruction: when we said, “שנית מצדה לא תיפול” - "Masada Shall Not Fall Again," we weren't kidding.
In the latest iteration of colonialist tormentors attempting to “wipe the Jewish entity off the map,” Iran, according to a recent report “may attack Israel on Tuesday evening with about 400 missiles, with the aim of hitting the Air Force bases, the air defense systems and the defense industries in the Haifa area,” this according to Dr. Perezin Nadimi, a senior researcher at the Washington Institute and an expert on Iran and security affairs.
However, an undisclosed US official told Axios: that they warned the Iranians: We won't be able to hold Israel back, and we won't be able to make sure that the next attack will be calibrated and targeted as the previous one.”
“According to Nadimi, the timing of the attack was intended to overshadow the announcement of the winner in the US elections. According to the expert's assessment, Iran will use the most advanced missiles in its possession, including Khoramshahr-4 missiles (a ballistic missile with a range of about 2,000 km), Fatah (a hypersonic missile developed to overcome systems air defense), Khybershan (medium-range ballistic missile) and Emad (accurate ballistic missile).
“The concentration of ballistic missiles in Iraq, according to Nadimi, is due to the fact that the Iranian missiles are not accurate enough for long ranges, and therefore it is necessary to send shorter-range missiles - from Iraq and Syria - Using proven missiles such as Zolfagar (a short-range ballistic missile with improved accuracy Iran has deployed ballistic missiles in 74 locations across the country in preparation for an attack on Israel, senior Iranian officials confirmed to Axios.
“When they promise to use heavier warheads, as the WSJ claims, Iran's most likely choice would be the Khorramshahr-4 hypergolic liquid-powered MRBM
“This missile, introduced in 2023, is the fourth generation of the Khorramshahr missile that was first unveiled in 2017.
“To date, it carries the largest known warhead in Iran's missile arsenal.
“Apart from its official name Khorramshahr, it is also called Khybar, after a famous Jewish fortress that was conquered by the Muslims in the Arabian Peninsula with the advent of Islam.
“The missile was specially designed to reach Israel, and has a range of 2,000 km, a warhead of 1,500 kg, and a circular error probability (accuracy) of 10 meters.
Comment by Israeli reporter: “If the Iranians carry out their threats, an all-out war will begin without restraint between Israel and Iran.
“Perhaps for the first time we will see the use of Israel's Jericho missiles.”
”
However, less breathless overnight reports from Israel say officials in Jerusalem aver that “…at the moment the [IDF] intelligence division does not recognize preparations for something that is going to be implemented in the immediate time frame. The preparation that is being done in terms of the [Israeli] defense layer is better than in the previous attack. The American systems in Israel have created a thicker and wider defense layer, this after the US deployed the THAAD defense system in Israel and the B-52 bombers that recently arrived in the Middle East.
“In recent days, Iran has changed its original plans and said that it is no longer preparing to attack before the elections, while at the same time, it appears that the Revolutionary Guards have abandoned the idea of carrying out the attack from Iraqi territory and are actually preparing to act from Iranian soil. ‘They are also threatening to use heavier missiles, and this means that they are going for a bigger event in terms of damage and scope,’" Ch. 14 defense analyst, Noam Amir reported.
