Iran Fingers Hezbollah in Assassination Attempt Against Israel's Netanyahu
And, boy - what a finger... How does the saying go? "When you come for the king, you'd best not miss." Welp - they missed. Big time.
(Video warning: siren comes on loud at the :20 mark. The video shows an Israeli army helicopter apparently pacing the drone sent toward the Netanyahus' private residence, with a 2nd helo shooting the video. I guess that it wasn't shot down due to the heavily populated area beneath the aircraft.)
Well, not only has Tehran missed - the mullah's target of an exploding drone strike on "King Bibi" as he’s known to supporters and his wife, Sara - weren't even present at their Caesaria home on a Shabbat morning full of rocket and explosive UAV attacks against northern Israel.
Now - with an actual full-on nation-to-nation "causus belli" - an overt attempted assassination by Iran against the leader of Israel - all bets are off for Israel's reaction to what had been originally planned as a more carefully calibrated reprisal against Iran for its 2nd direct mass-missile attack against the Jewish State on Oct. 1st - reportedly the largest single missile strike in modern history.
Buckle up.
Iran, for its part, denies responsibility for the drone strike on Netanyahu's house: "It's Hezbollah"
"Iran's representation at the UN referred to the UAV that was launched this morning towards Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home. 'We deny any connection by Tehran to the UAV that was sent towards Netanyahu's house in Caesarea today,' it said. The embassy emphasized that Hezbollah is responsible for the attack." (Lior Ben Ari - YNet News)
"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this evening (Saturday, 19 October 2024): The attempt by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my wife today was a grave mistake.
This will not deter me or the State of Israel from continuing our just war against our enemies in order to secure our future.
I say to Iran and its proxies in its axis of evil: Anyone who tries to harm Israel’s citizens will pay a heavy price.
We will continue to eliminate the terrorists and those who dispatch them. We will bring our hostages home from Gaza.
And we will return our citizens who live on our Northern border safely to their homes. Israel is determined to achieve all our war objectives and change the security reality in our region for generations to come."
"The drone attack in Caesarea represents a significant and unprecedented escalation, the seriousness of which cannot be overstated. It appears that the full implications of this event have yet to be fully recognized—this was a direct Iranian attempt to assassinate Israel’s Prime Minister.
"This incident is likely to have far-reaching consequences for the nature of the upcoming strikes on Iran and the selection of strategic targets. It is already impacting Lebanon, as seen in the intensified strikes on Beirut.
"It is highly probable that Iran was not only seeking a monumental success to counter the repeated blows dealt by Israel, but also sees Netanyahu as a key obstacle, a factor prolonging the conflict and posing a direct threat to Iran and the stability of its regime." — Tamir Morag, Israel Hayom Newspaper
In a related story from AXIOS: “U.S. officials are deeply alarmed by a possible significant security breach after two purported U.S. intelligence documents detailing Israel’s plans for a strike on Iran were leaked on a Telegram account linked to Iran.”
Hmmm. Maybe someone could ask Robert Malley:
“The Biden administration’s now-suspended Iran envoy Robert Malley helped to fund, support, and direct an Iranian intelligence operation designed to influence the United States and allied governments, according to a trove of purloined Iranian government emails.” https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/israel-middle-east/articles/iran-spy-ring-robert-malley-lee-smith

Such cowards! To deny it was them (Iran). But Hezbollah is Iran.
