Netanyahu to Iranian Opposition: "It's Time"; to Mullahs: "Time's Up." - Video, Updates
The IDF's lightning evisceration of Syria's army, has - intentionally or not - created a strategic and seismic shift: opening a safer, shorter air corridor to strike Iran.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, this evening (Thursday, 12 December 2024):
People of Iran:
As we see history unfold before our very eyes, I can only imagine what you're feeling right now.
Your oppressors spent over 30 billion dollars supporting Assad in Syria. Today, after only 11 days of fighting, his regime collapsed into dust.
Your oppressors spent billions supporting Hamas in Gaza. Today their regime lies in ruins.Your oppressors spent over 20 billion dollars supporting Hezbollah in Lebanon.
In a matter of weeks, most of Hezbollah’s leaders, its rockets and thousands of its terrorists went up in smoke. The money your oppressors stole from you literally went up in smoke.
You must be furious imagining the new roads, schools, hospitals that could have been built with the tens of billions of dollars your dictators wasted backing terrorists who lose over and over and over again.
Do you know why Iran's oppressors keep losing?
It's not only because they are incompetent and cruel. They are.
It's because they seek to conquer other nations, to impose fundamentalist tyranny on the Middle East - on the entire world.
The only thing Israel seeks is to defend our state. But in so doing, we're defending civilization against barbarism.
The historic events we witness today are a chain reaction- a chain reaction to the pounding of Hamas, the decimation of Hezbollah, the targeting of Nasrallah, the blows we delivered to the Iran regime's axis of terror. And all this came as President Trump pointed out this week, 'because of Israel and its fighting success.'
I want to make clear. Israel wants peace. We want peace with all those who truly want peace with us.
And I have no doubt that you, the People of Iran, know this.
I know that just as we want peace with you, you want peace with us.
But you suffer under the rule of a regime that subjugates you and threatens us.
You know what this regime is truly terrified of?
It's terrified of you, the people of Iran.
And one day, I know that. One day this will change. One day Iran will be free.
Women, Life, Freedom
Zan, Zendegi, Azadi.
That is the future of Iran.
That is the future of peace.
And I have no doubt that we will realize that future together – a lot sooner than people think.
I know and I believe we will transform the Middle East into a beacon of prosperity, progress and peace.
Thank you."

Israel Army radio reporter, Doron Kadosh:
“Open Axis to Iran: The Air Force is concluding the operation to destroy Assad's army, and according to estimates - 86% of the Syrian air defense system has been destroyed. The meaning - Syria, which in the past was a significant threat to Air Force aircraft that were severely restricted from flying over its territory due to anti-aircraft threats, is now a much safer and more open airspace for flight.
“Following recent developments in the Middle East, the IDF believes that there is now an opportunity to attack the nuclear facilities in Iran.
”The various security organizations - including the IDF - are currently carrying out a preparatory process between broad, intelligence, and operational organizations, in order to provide the political echelon with the capabilities and the option of choosing whether to carry out an attack on the nuclear facilities.
“Within the Syrian anti-aircraft system, which is considered the densest in the world and has fired hundreds of times at our aircraft in recent years, the Air Force has placed emphasis on the two most advanced systems, which managed to shoot down quite a few missiles that attacked Syria during the “wars-between-the-wars” period - the SA-17 system, of which 80% were estimated to have been destroyed, and the SA-22 system, of which 86% were destroyed.
“In addition, 90% of the MiG-29 aircraft and about 80% of the Sukhoi-24 aircraft of the Assad army were also destroyed (a total of 61% damage to the Syrian Air Force).
“In the Assad regime's fire and missile array, the achievements are more modest: certain missile arrays were destroyed in high percentages (80-90%), but there are other arrays that were damaged to a much lesser extent (20-30), and therefore the IDF estimates that it is certainly possible that advanced weapons, missiles, and other military capabilities that Israel does not know about will fall into the hands of the rebels.
“The choice of which to attack from among Assad's entire army was made according to priority.
“In total, in the operation to destroy Assad's army, the Air Force attacked about 500 targets, and used 1,800 munitions for this purpose, when until a few days before, such an operation had not been planned at all, and certainly not such extensive use of munitions and bombs that were intended for other arenas.
“Only on Thursday, two days before the fall of Assad, did the plans go through the approval process with the Air Force Commander - and until that night, between Saturday and Sunday, the debate continued over when to put the plan into action. On Sunday at 10:00, the signal was given, and the Air Force launched broad waves of attacks in Syria.”
From the Wall Street Journal: Trump is considering attacking Iranian nuclear weapons sites to prevent Iran from getting the bomb; he told Netanyahu in their recent talks that he is afraid that Iran will go nuclear during his shift - and wants to promote plans that will prevent that. Trump is also considering the possibility of transferring advanced weapons to Israel in the expectation that it will be the one to attack the Iranian nuclear facilities, possibly with American cooperation in operations.
