Life on the Border: why do kids even need bomb shelters? - Zoom Interview

Families of preschoolers in Tzfat in northern Israel thank this American-born "Community Resilience Team" member who serves as wartime liaison between English-speaking residents and officials

We are grateful to Shayna Rehberg-Paquin for making the time to be our fascinating guest for our Life on the Border Zoom sesh.

The married mother of seven is very active in volunteer efforts for IDF troops and evacuees, and manages the "Sparks to Life" charity:

”Since the beginning of the war, my friend Klara Levy and I learned of many educational institutions in Tzfat without a safe space for the children who spend most of their day there. After turning to every government body or organization we could think of for help, and coming up empty, we decided to take action. Over the past couple of months, our nonprofit Sparks to Life - ניצוצות לחיים has brought 11 shelters to our city's schools (mostly preschools and special education) and we are still working hard to close the gap. We still want to bring another 9 to Tzfat and are also working to bring 5 to our neighbors in Hatzor.

“You can help us provide safety for our children here: https://bit.ly/SparksChesed
