Syriously cute! ;-) I'm confused - not unusual. Why would the IDF shell HAD to aid UNIFIL? It's my understanding the rebel actions benefit Israel. What am I not understanding.?

If Assad is in Moscow, that most likely ends his control of Syria. Looking more and more like a fait accompli for HAD and company. Thanks for the maps and update.

Remember these rebels (HTS) are the “moderates” - that means they’re Al Qaeda, and not IS.

So while Turkey and Qatar (friends of Hamas) fund the HTS, the only allies the West have are the Kurds, the Druze and Christians.

& The latter two were allied with Assad because if the religious minorities don’t hang together, they’ll all be beheaded separately, to paraphrase Ben Franklin

The IDF - as in the past in about 2015 in the Quenitra area - is trying to keep UNIFIL troops from getting slaughtered by the other guys in Syria. The "rebel" actions are also a threat, depending on currently developing battles, including over Syria's CBN weapons stores, and the rebels trying to take Syrian Mt. Hermon - the highest and most strategic outpost in the theater.
